Man, it’s been a tough year, but i’ve definitely learned alot. I’ve tried to transition from a services business to a product producing one, and essentially have moved into my apt to do most of my work now. The whole process has taught me a ton about business in general and how NOT to do things. Here’s just a couple of things that I learned:
1. You can’t do everything by yourself
2. Nothing is final until you have the cash in hand (project
completed/ink on the paper/etc)
3. Failure sucks ass, but its never the end, just the beginning
4. Completing your prototype is about .01 % of the entire scope of
the business
5. Plan, plan, plan, even though nothing ever goes to plan (at least
you thought it out)
6. Be bold and unafraid to talk about your business and ideas to
people because it might lead to something else
7. Dont’ be afraid of criticism when you talk about your business
8. Don’t only think of problems, but also think of solutions to them
9. The NY community has a ton of great people to get help from
10. Don’t burn bridges
Anyone else? (it doesn’t have to be 10
)
