Life is just too short…

So a freak thing happened to my friend’s brother-in-law last week, a 100 lb tree trunk fell on him.  Luckily he survived, but he’s in pretty bad shape right now.  It’s so unfair… every day we work our asses off, look both ways when we cross the street, try and stay healthy, but in the end, fate really has control of our lives;  we surely don’t.

This is the same reason why I created JennieBot.  In the end, our friends and family and the relationships we have with them are really what’s important in life and we need to be thankful for the time we get with them.  Sometimes, we just need to be reminded of that.  Money and success can come and go, but they’re nothing without friends and family.

Our thoughts and our prayers go out to you and your family Sasha.  Get better soon.

This is the lovely error message that I get from Skype now that my account has been suspended because I tried to add more credits while I was overseas.

I dont mind that they have fraud control.  I worked for debt resolution company and I understand the need to make sure that every payment is valid and controls are in to catch fraudulent purchases.  However, GIVE ME A WAY TO FIX IT PROMPTLY!!!

Their idea of contacting customer support is for me to send them an email and wait for a response.  It’s been a week already, and I still haven’t heard anything from customer support.  God forbid that this service was someone intimately tied to how I did business.  I know some people who have considered using this service as a part of their business.

So my first tip of the day:  Don’t use skype for business purposes (i’m so frustrated right, I would say don’t use skype at all).  Customer support is an important feature when evaluating a vendor for your company.

My second tip of the day:  If you get frustrated, take the error message that you get, create a blog post about it, so when other people google that error message they get your blog post.

Make yourself uncomfortable

I just listened to some great advice from a podcast “Venture Voice” Show #43. It talks about Fred Seibert who brought Hannah Barbara back from the brink of failure. In the podcast he talks about “making yourself uncomfortable”. I thought this was a great idea. What better way to improve yourself, except to push your boundaries and what you’re capable of?

Generally I like to stay comfortable in what im doing. it’s safe. i’m in control and everything around me stays within my control. But staying like this doesn’t help me grow in any way. I’ve started to implement this and have seen small changes already. A main thing i’ve seen is my health improve as i’ve started to make myself uncomfortable by working out! :) .

A friend of mine who came across this philosophy at about the same time has started putting himself in situations that he would normally not do! And wow, has it worked wonders for him! He’s even competing in an Architectural challenge for his company! I think its awesome.

The biggest hindrance for me is my ego. Putting myself in uncomfortable situations can be quite a blow to my self esteem. I’m trying hard to get over this and hopefully, something great will come out of this!

If anyone has any great stories about this, i’d love to hear them to use as my own inspiration!

Hello World!!!

The blog has finally been born! I’ve been pushing this off for a while, so i’ve finally decided to bite the bullet and create a writing/editorial outlet for myself. This used to be my text message directory, which you can now find at http://textmessagedirectory.snpptz.com. There i’ll be using the text message directory to muck around with collaborative filtering and other new tech trends. It’s essentially become my sandbox :) .
